Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure and honor to announce that the 14th East Asian Actuarial Conference will take place at the Keio Plaza Hotel, Shinjuku, Tokyo on October 9-12, 2007. I would like to welcome all of you to this biennial event and encourage you to present a paper. In this age of globalization, it will be an invaluable opportunity for actuaries from the East Asian region to get together and discuss various issues, not only matters regarded traditionally as actuarial but emerging new challenges
as well. Let me stress that you will be able to gain more from the conference than simply discussion on actuarial issues. I assure you that having a firsthand experience of Japanese culture will provide you with much excitement and ensure you leave Japan with lots of great memories. The Institute of Actuaries of Japan is determined to make this conference a success. We will do our utmost to make your stay in Japan comfortable and enjoyable. We would be delighted if you are able to join us at this
event. Please bring your colleagues, friends and family. I look forward to seeing all of you here in Japan.
Katsumi Hikasa
Chairman of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan
